Short answer: the most common visiting card sizes in Pakistan are 3.5 × 2 inches (88.9 × 50.8 mm) and 90 × 50 mm. Bank-card size, 85.6 × 54 mm (3.37 × 2.13 inches), is used for PVC cards, including NFC cards. For print, add 3 mm bleed on every side and keep text at least 3 mm inside the trim edge. At 300 DPI, a 3.5 × 2 inch card is 1050 × 600 pixels, or about 1121 × 671 pixels with bleed.
We could not find one official Pakistani standard for paper visiting cards. Printers work to their cutting tools and templates, so always ask your printer for their exact size before you finish a design.
Common visiting card sizes
| Size name | Millimetres | Inches | Used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inch size (North American style) | 88.9 × 50.8 | 3.5 × 2 | Paper cards, card holders and most templates |
| Slim metric | 90 × 50 | 3.54 × 1.97 | Paper cards from many local printers |
| Bank-card size (ISO ID-1) | 85.6 × 54 | 3.37 × 2.13 | PVC, metal and NFC cards, ID and bank cards |
The ISO/IEC 7810 standard defines the ID-1 format used by bank cards at 85.60 × 53.98 mm. PVC and NFC cards follow it so they fit wallets, card readers and card holders.
Visiting card size in pixels (300 DPI)
Pixels depend on resolution. For print, 300 DPI is the usual target. The sums are width in inches multiplied by 300.
| Card | Trim size in pixels | With 3 mm bleed |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5 × 2 in (88.9 × 50.8 mm) | 1050 × 600 | 1121 × 671 |
| 90 × 50 mm | 1063 × 591 | 1134 × 661 |
| 85.6 × 54 mm | 1011 × 638 | 1082 × 709 |
For a design that only appears on screen, such as a digital profile or a social post, 1050 × 600 pixels is plenty.
What bleed and safe area mean
- Trim size is the final size of the card after cutting.
- Bleed is extra background that runs past the trim edge, usually 3 mm on each side. Cutting is never perfectly exact, so without bleed you can get a thin white line at the edge.
- Safe area is the margin inside the trim where all text and logos should sit, usually at least 3 mm from the edge. Anything outside it risks being clipped.
Set up your file at the bleed size, put the trim line on a guide, and keep important content inside the safe area.
Landscape or portrait?
Landscape is standard because it fits wallets and card holders. Portrait cards look distinctive but are harder to read in a holder, and some printers charge for a non-standard cut. Choose portrait only when the design depends on it.
Size for NFC business cards
An NFC card is a physical card with a chip, so it is normally made in bank-card size. Our review and social media NFC cards are 85.6 × 54 mm, as listed on each product page. For business cards, send your logo and we confirm the exact size and printing area on the mockup before anything is printed. Metal cards are printed on a single colour on the metal side, so plan the layout accordingly; see our artwork guide for NFC cards.
Quick checklist before you send artwork
- Confirm the trim size with your printer.
- Build the file at trim size plus 3 mm bleed on each side.
- Keep text and logos 3 mm inside the trim.
- Use 300 DPI images and CMYK colours for print.
- Check spelling of every name, number and email address.
- For an NFC card, leave room for the QR code if you want one.
